A new approach to treat cancer has been developed and tested with cell cultures and mice. It works by dying the cancer cells using aminocyanine (a standard substance used in medical imaging) and then exposing them to near-infrared light which makes the cells to vibrate at about 40 trillion times a second. This destroys the membrane of the cancer cells with a 99 percent success rate in the cell culture and about 50 percent of mice treated with it became cancer free.
