Not only humans can treat wounds with medicine, but chimpanzees have done so and recently a Sumatran orangutan has been observed to apply a wound in his face with some leaf pulp until the wound was completely covered. Since he did not smear any other body part, the observers assume that he was intentionally treating his wound.
