Healing of nerves decided by protein
It has been detected that when nerves are damaged they can decide whether to protect themselves from further damage or to try to repair the damage by growing new axons. This process is triggered by a particular protein, aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR). Blocking it could help nerve regeneration. More research is needed.
